About

Between hiking and me, there is a clear bond. I enjoy hiking, it makes me feel great.

It began in the early days of 2021, when I resolved to explore new horizons and embrace social connections. This was one of my new year resolutions ; I wanted to find a new passion.

I signed up to a meet up website where I discovered a wide range of interesting activities.

I joined a couple of local hiking groups. It was exhilarating and nerve-wracking.

I was a little bit sceptical about meeting a bunch of people that I did not know, I was wary about stepping from the virtual into the real. Additionally, I pondered whether my legs would withstand the physical demands of hiking.  What if fatigue set in halfway, leaving me unable to continue?  The uncertainty hung in the air, but my excitement overpowered any hesitation.

I did not have a hiking boot or the appropriate gear to start. I wanted to have trial first, assess if it was the right activity for me before committing to boots and equipment.

My first hiking experience was fabulous. It was magical to meet people that I saw on screen in real life.

I enjoyed being in nature and felt safe. It was lovely to chat with people along the paths; conversations flowed.  The atmosphere was pleasant, the energy was positive and vibrant.  I felt energised and very content.

I realised this was more than a resolution; it was a lifelong commitment.
